Just to re-cap, the rules of the swap are that the swap parcel would include

1. a small handmade item that takes less than 3 hours to complete and has a valentine theme. It could be anything: a sock creature, soft toy, simple stitchery, mini-quilt, pin-cushion, bag, purse, knitted something - anything that you would enjoy making and sharing!

2. something chocolatey or sweet-like!

3. and some craft supplies from your own stash - e.g. buttons, ribbon, fabric scraps, lace, wool, string, beads - anything like that but not worth more than $6 in value.

The parcels are to be sent ON February 14th

And most importantly HAVE FUN and share the LOVE! hehe

I also think that we should pop into the swap thread on the Stitchy and Patchy Show once a week just to let everyone know how we are going. (I have seen this on a few forums now and have thought that it was a good idea)

This will be a DIRECT swap - meaning you send to the same person as you are receiving from - From memory we have not done one of these yet - so it should be fun!

The swap parcel would include

This is my Swap from Andrea, i got a gorgeous bunting with christmas print one side and different prints the other and a advent calender.

Reindeer bags to mix oats and glitter so they can find there way here on christmas eve. Popcorn and candy canes as well as rum balls (yummmmmm) and a heap of printed out stuff for the kids

Thanks Marie for putting in the time to make us all a something a little special this year for Christmas. Amelia received a hat (it is so cute and reminds me of my brownie hats - and yellow really suits her!) Tim and I received eye covers each (to take to the hospital so we can get some shut eye!) A knitting roll, tissue holder and a bag for nappies (with a newborn nappy - man I have forgot just how small they are!) And a bib and shoes for bub in Michael Millers 'Rocket Rascals' , oh and two Enid Gilchrist Books.

Christmas swap from Suz

Suz did a wonderful job putting together a gorgoeus package for our family.

A bright and oh so lovel table runner (shows how small my table is).

A toy for Ashton, a lovely Christmas FQ, some buttons and a little teddy for the tree. She also included some facial products for Keiran.

I adore these baubles - some of my favourite colours there. And the advent calender is great! Can you believe that Kerry made all of those little stocking. Each one has their number hand embroidered on - it is fantastic. I am so glad that Kerry made this for me as I did not have the patience to do 24 itty bitty little things (so it means a lot to me).

Sorry, I just came in to check my Christmas swap partners answers and saw this.

Our Christmas tree is already up. It is in our foyer 'lounge' room (doesn't get used as a lounge room though - just an oversized foyer). It is in a corner against a wall and the lower half of the staircase. We have one stocking that hangs off one of the rungs of the staircase. James' Christmas sack will probably go under the tree. James loves the tree and sometimes asks for the lights to go first thing in the morning..

Our Christmas tree will go up in the corner of our loungeroom by the front window. We will probably have the blanket box in front of it to keep the baby out of the presents (if we had a playpen, that would go around it instead to keep it safe). Also the kids stockings are left at the ends of their beds for Santa to fill up :)

Last year I had the sack on the tree! But I need to find a good spot to hang them this year. Somewhere around the tree probably.

Our Christmas tree has previously gone in Ellyse's playroom, but now she has so many toys there we are not sure it will fit! This year we are thinking of putting it in our teeny tiny lounge room. The kid's stockings used to hang on the wall next to the tree, this year will probably hang on the wall as you walk in our front door.

Well we usually have our tree in the lounge room but we are currently thinking of what we can do this year as Lucy will definitely attack it. The santa sacks go into the kids room empty when they go to bed and then Santa fills them up (very quietly of course).

I have been debating this with DH for the past few days but I think my tree will be in the lounge room near the window so that you can see the christmas lights from the street.
I have just finished making the kids christmas sacks for this year which will be left under the tree on christmas eve and be magically filled by morning (no presents under the tree before then cause I cant guarentee that master 2 wont unwrap them before that)

Without giving too much away I would like to make something for the children of my Swap partner - only problem is - I need to know where you place your Christmas Tree. Is it in the lounge, the front room - the verandah (well anything is possible - this is Australia!) Oh and where do you leave there stocking or sacks for santa to find??? In there bedroom, under the tree etc

Do you have a favourite Christmas Colour? I've come back to red as my favourite Chrsitmas colour. Before kids we did blues and silver, all very sophisticated, but since having the girls I've come back to the traditional stuff.

Do you decorate the whole house or just a part of it? We used to just have a tree, but each year our decoration grows a bit more. We'll have to go all out with outside lights this year too - it's a bit of a tradition in our area, and we don't want to be the stick in the muds. We were forgiven last year as it was our first year.

Do you have any Christmas Traditions? Not really. Our family are all interstate so often in the past it was just us and we'd do seafood and champagne on the beach. But this year all my family are coming up!

What sizes are your children? Louisa's a size 5 and Elizabeth's a very skinny 2.

Do you like quick projects or things that take a little longer? I'd love the time to do more elaborate projects, but at the moment, quick is best.

Is there anything that you like to collect? Hmm, I do like anything blue and white for the kitchen, and of course fabric.

Would you like something handmade as a gift? - Only if the sender has time. I don't to stress anyone out.

Do you have a favourite Christmas Colour? -I change every year. But when I decide, I follow through with everything. The Christmas cards, the wrapping paper and the decorations (to a certain extent- I don't go out and buy all new decorations, just emphasise the colours of the year). Generally includes Gold, with either Red and Green, or with Purple.

Do you decorate the whole house or just a part of it? -Only part of the house. Whichever room the Christmas tree is in. This year it will be the foyer.

Do you have any Christmas Traditions? -Not really, does going to my parent's house for lunch every year count?

What size is/are your child/ren? -James is in size 2

Do you have a favourite Christmas Colour? Yes, I love red, green, gold, silver, purple (pretty much all the christmassy colours hey!)

Do you decorate the whole house or just a part of it? Each year we do more - always have a hugely decorated tree, string tinsel around the celiling in the lounge room, dining room and family room. Last year the boys wanted some in their room too. We have also started getting a decent collection of outdoor lights too. This year we are having both mine and Steve's family over for a big traditional lunch, so will probably decorate even more!

Do you have any Christmas Traditions? We always spend christmas eve going on a small drive around the neighboring suburbs to look at all the christmas lights around. Then we come home and sprinkle magic reindeer food on the front lawn to help them find our house easily. Out the back we leave out some water, carrots and apple for the reindeer too and of course some milk and cookies for Santa on the table next to the tree. Of course we also have "the Night Before Christmas" as our bedtime book too. (Then Steve and I end up staying up for the next 4 hours or so wrapping presents and finding presents that I've wrapped and hidden over the last few weeks too!) then try to fit them all under the tree ;)

What sizes are your children? Jai is a size 4 and Jordan is a size 9 (sometimes a 10 in the top if it runs on the small side)

Do you like quick projects or things that take a little longer? I prefer quick projects, but do usually have one longer project on the go (I have half a knitted wrap stashed in my bottom drawer at the moment) When I was pregnant with Jai I loved working on a cute cross stitch for him (that is still awaiting a frame so I can hang it in is room!)

Is there anything that you like to collect? Not really. I did used to have a candle obsession, but then I had so many I stopped buying them - but have finally used those all up so am back to buying them again (currently addicted to lovely scented soy candles!) I'm not a "knick knack" person, I think the boys make enough clutter. I do have quite a growing colletion of very cute buttons I find that I think would look great on the boy's clothing, but then don't get around to using them as they are "too cute" lol!

DH loves to cover the house in tinsel and paper chains! I love paper chains but am generally just a tree decorator.

We alternate between families and this year will be with my M&D here in Darwin at their place. We always go to Midnight Mass and always read the nativity story in the morning under the tree before we do the Santa thing. I am defintely a real meaning of Christmas person rather than the commercial side of things.

Miss Grace is in size 2 these days.

I am defintiely a one night project girl - if I can't finish it in a night it is probably going to take me months (...or years!!)

Always very happy to get a handmade gift, but I also understand if this is not possible with the lead up to Christmas being what it always is!

I tend to lean toward traditional red and gold for the tree.

I like to have a door wreath and a small tree on the hall table, the tree and that's been it to date, though I'd like to do something on our new deck this year.

Do you have any Christmas Traditions?
Hmmm not really - maybe now we have a family of our own that will start. We spend each alternate Christmas with DH's family and mine as they live a fair distance apart.

What sizes are your children?
Both girls are wearing size 2's now, but when I make anything I make it longer by about 4cm as they are both above average height - Alice even moreso than Lucy.

Do you like quick projects or things that take a little longer?
Depends - I can sit and do embroidery that will take weeks to finish, though now I tend to do more sewing with quick results.

Is there anything that you like to collect?
Ummm - fabric, fabric and fabric!
I'm getting into the retro cartoon-style Michael Miller prints, coordinating fabrics for tiered skirts, I love red and blue patterns for the girls as much as pinks and girly colours, and I'm not really into things that are too tissy or frilly IYKWIM!!

Do you have a favourite Christmas Colour? I love crimson and snow white together and this blue and silver together.
Do you have any Christmas Traditions? Well DH has worked Christmas Eve until after midnight and Christmas morning until at least 11am every single Christmas for the 14 years we've been married, so basically on Christmas Day the kids and I get up and go to church, we come home, then DH comes home and we open pressies, then DH goes to bed. I get lunch ready while he's asleep and we eat about 2.30pm after he's had a rest. I always used to love watching Carols from Kings on TV on Christmas Eve but last year it wasn't on (bah ABC!) My other Christmas tradition is forgetting to put the roast in the oven so lunch gets pushed back another hour LOL!
Do you decorate the whole house or just a part of it? Usually we just put our tree up and that's it for decorations.
What size is/are your child/ren? Snugglebunny is wearing size 2 this summer - she is a chubby little thing with a cloth bum. Tigerboy is size 6 in pants and 7 in shirts. Glamourpuss is size 8 in clothes I make her, but I often buy size 10 in shirts from the store. Technogirl is size 12 or 14 and impossible to please.

What's your fave Christmas Present? I actually really and truly prefer watching the kids enjoy their things, I wouldn't be worried if I didn't get anything. My mother used to say the same when I was a child and I used to get so annoyed with her and think it couldn't be true, but it is.

Do you like quick projects or things that take a little longer? Definately quick projects, I have to pack the machine away whenever Connor is awake.

Would you like something handmade as a gift? -I have no preference, I just can't wait to get something in the mail! Handmade is wonderful but if time is pressing, go the shop bought all the way.

Do you have a favourite Christmas Colour? My Christmas tree is decked out in blue & silver but I love all of the 'traditional' colours as well.

Would you like something handmade as a gift? - I truly don't mind what I get! Something hand made would be great but its so hard this time of year so I don't mind fabric or Christmas Trims or a decorative ornament, whatever is easiest!

Do you have a favourite Christmas Colour? I make alot of Christmas things in mustard, forrest green and deep red, I tend to give alot of them away though! But I always use those colours. I usually add a rustic bell as well!

Do you have any Christmas Traditions? We all have stockings, and presents under the tree, I do the shopping so DH is suprised with what the kids get despite me telling him and showing him! We are staying at home this year, just us, in our new house by the beach, might have a bbq for lunch, the last 2 weeks of school are always so hectic with swimming lessons, school concerts, parties and then were moving 1.5 hours away so theres all the work involved with that, I am looking forward to letting them have the day with all there pressies.

Whats your fave Christmas Present? Last year DH bought me a Willow Tree Nativity Set , he gave it to me early December. I love it more than my fisher price Little People one!

Would you like something handmade as a gift? - I would love smething handmade if my partner has time. I have a lot of decorations on the tree that are either handmade or have been gifts from people, I love it as our tree tells a story. I also like traditional style decorations as opposed to santa, snowmen etc. Angels, stars are much prettier. (Just wait until our tree has to be adorned with lovely art work from kindy, I guess I will have no choice then!)

Do you have a favourite Christmas Colour? Most of our tree decorations are red a gold, as are the other decs in our house.

Do you have any Christmas Traditions? Ham and runny eggs for breakfast at Mum and Dad's no matter where Christmas is. Lucky they live around the corner, although with 2 kids now we are probably ready to start our own family traditions, which is lovely, but sad to let go of the others!

What size is/are your child/ren? Ellyse is a size 2 bottoms and 3 top. Ashton is getting into some 00 now, especially all in ones as he is so long.

Well I thought that I would start us off with some Christmas Sewing related thoughts. Many thanks to the lovely Leah for organising this for us and getting our little bottoms into gear!

I am not really fussed what I receive - I actually get more enjoyment out of giving...

But I have had a request from my DH that this year we have NO SANTAS or REINDEERS on the Christmas tree. So I am planning on making some angels and doves - anyother ideas would be wonderful! (MEN!)

Would you like something handmade as a gift? - Yes please (if you are up to it ofcourse!) I have made a pledge with myself this year that all of my gifts (well most of them will be handmade! either by ME, or purchasing handmade)

Do you decorate the whole house or just a part of it? I am slowly collecting more and more Christmas things every year - It did start off as just a small tree and then a bigger tree and then the top of the entertainment unit. I have a lovely enterance to our new home and I am thinking that it needs to be decorated as well!

Do you have any Christmas Traditions? This year I would like to make an advent something. Not quite sure what - but have a few ideas flying around. I love to spend Christmas with family and this year it is DH turn to have christmas with his - although we are not sure where it will be as I will be 36 weeks pregnant by then!

I was so excited when I got home from work and had 2 parcels waiting for me. The first was my bag swap. It was from the very talented Sahra. It's a wonderfully made bag with a great little purse attached by a key fob inside (I have been wanting to try this so will have to have a close look). I can't wait to start using it! Everything! I always carry too much. But lately I have been trying to carry just one bag for James and I (rather than a bag each). It makes it easier to chase after him if I only have one bag.

3. Do you prefer shoulder bags, backpacks or clutch bags?
I prefer shoulder bags, but I guess clutch is OK too.

4. Dressy or casual?
Casual, or dressy casual....I guess not beach casual (if that makes sense)

5. Colour preferences (also state whether you like pastels, brights or muted tones)
Classic colours with a little touch of something else (maybe bright, maybe pastel) to highlight.

6. How do you like to carry your bag? I for example like over the shoulder or across the body but I know some people who are happy to carry it in their hand (by the handle).
At the moment, my bags are generally able to worn across my body, so I don't have to worry about having a hand free. But I also like double shorter handled bags (worn over just one shoulder).

New Blog Ring Logo

Hello blogging buddies. :)

I have finally worked out how to update the EB logo into the blog ring logo. I'll try and explain it here.

1. Log into your blog as normal, go to your dashboard, click on manage LAYOUT.
2. Find the HTML/Java Script button that is the EB blog ring code, click on EDIT.
3. Towards the bottom there should be two lines that say ring=mini_grey;id=1;action=next">Next Take note of what yout id number is, everyones is different.
4. Select all then delete it.

Now here is the tricky bit. If I paste here what the code is, it comes up as the image rather than all the letters, KWIM? So I think I'll PM everyone the code cause I have just done a test via the EB PM system and that works. So PM me and I'll foward the code. Once you have that...

5. Paste it in exactly. But where it was id=1, you want to replace that number with your id number.

I hope all that makes sense. Of course if you are happy with how your blog ring thingy button looks now, you don't have to change it and things will stay the same, you'll still be in the ring.

What other crafts do you enjoy doing? Hmm, there are lot's I would like to try that I haven't got around to yet.

Is there anything that you collect? Well, where to start??? Lets see, vintage patterns, fabrics, tea towels and pillow slips. I LOVE old aprons and any textile with a pretty pattern. I also collect old childrens books, especially Eloise Wilkin Little Golden Books or any illustrated by Marcel Marlier. I also love old kitchenalia, esp stuff from the 1950's and 60's.

What do you always look at first when you go into an Opshop? First I do linens, then I do craft and patterns, then I do the children's book section and lastly the kitchen/knick-knack shelves. If I have any more time I will then head around to the clothing and furniture sections. And lastly I would check the toys.

What is your best opshop find? Oh I have soooo many. I have a few fabulous old table cloths which are very much treasured. I also adore the blanket I found for Lotties bed. I even used it for my blog header I love it so much.

What are the ages of your children? Jack 16, Charlotte 3, William 2

Is there anything that you would really LOVE to find and are yet to come across it? I have always dreamt about finding a beautiful old quilt, but no luck yet.

What crafts do you enjoy doing?
I like dressmaking, mostly girls dresses and tops and pants type sets, size 2 to 8. I also quilt, the occasional scrapbooking and I like to cross stitch reproduction alphabet samplers. I also make cushions, country dolls and prim cats.

Is there anything you collect?
hmmm, I collect Willow Tree Ornaments, never seen one at an op shop though! I have a few vintage kitchen scales on display in my kitchen, picked up a lovley red one for 50c, to heavy to post though!

What do you always look at first when you go into an op shop?
A Fred Bare girls dress made from this fabric! I am after more for a yo-yo cushion I am making Cate for her bed, it is my fave ever Fred fabric and I need more.
I also look for vintage patterns, mostly girls dresses and outfits. Then I meander over to fabric (never find any), look at notions and trims, magazines, books, toys...

What is your best op shop find?
Oh, I have had lots! I op shop and swap meet alot, haven't been in ages so really looking forward to having an excuse to get out and do some browsing! Things like NWT designer clothes in one of my kids sizes for $5; to an old trike for the garden bed for $5; to a NIP fairy print Doona cover, just missing the pillowcase for $3; to sewing patterns 50c; to ...you get the drift!

Kids' clothes because sometimes you can buy beautiful things cheaper than making them. Then I browse the patterns, material, sheets and books.

Kwik-Sew's sewing for children complete with master pattern sheet. I have learnt so many things from that book.

I love to dye wool, crochet and I am going to take up fabric dyeing when bubba comes (as you can’t dye when you are pregnant).

Is there anything that you collect?
I suppose the closest thing I have to a collection is all things Kwik Sew. I have nearly the whole collection of Kwik Sew books (vintage baby, vintage toddler, newer toddler, appliqué, lingerie) and I adore Kwik Sew patterns.

What do you always look at first when you go into an Opshop?
Patterns, fabric, buttons, other sewing bits and bobs, books. I also have a look over at the clothes – looking for denim skirts, jeans, 100% wool jumpers and things that could be recycled at a good price.

What is your best opshop find?
I picked up two Kwik Sew books for $2 each before I had kids and they have been fantastic. My best ever find was a beautiful butter soft leather skirt in fantastic condition that fit perfectly for $5 – I loved that skirt.

What are the ages of your children?
Jalisa is two and a bit, child no 2 will be a newborn in 12 weeks.

Is there anything that you would really LOVE to find and are yet to come across it?
I would love to find a non plastic tea set (but this will be way to heavy to send anyway).

Ummm, I have two jars of buttons given to my by MIL, started a bit of a ribbon collection recently too.

Go to the fabrics, then the patterns, then to the jewellery (always looking for authentic vintage crystal pieces!) then off to the books where I'll usually get one each for my boys.

Umm, I haven't had many good finds, I need to find some better op shops I think. Probably the best find would've been a black velvet jacket I bought about 6 years ago, I still wear it out today!
